Obituary:

Mr. Gallup was born in Kansas City General Hospital on March 1, 1924. He lived in Sugar Creek, attended Bryant, and William Chrisman High School, as well as cc camps in Carrollton and Wentzville Mo. John joined the Navy on Dec 9, 1941 at 17 years old. He served in Pearl Harbor and then reenlisted in the Army in 1946 and served 3 years. In 1946 he began work with Kansas City Power and Light, retiring in 1983. He spent his retirement years in Edwards, Missouri.

He leaves his wife, Esther Gallup of 49 years; 4 daughters: Shelia Dyck, Shirley Hutchison, Roberta LoFaso, and Leah Gallup; he was preceded in death by his son, Tom Linder.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the USS Reid Trust, an association of his liking.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I met John a few times though out the yrs. But felt I knew him better by the stories my dad (Buster) always told of the two of them. He was a very good friend to my dad I am glad they had that friendship. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. God bless u all. The Quick Family
