Obituary:
Rex Kevin Hoffman, 57, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center from a heart attack. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17 at Charter Funerals, 10250 Shawnee Mission Parkway, Merriam, with visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Gilead Cemetery near Carrollton, Missouri. Rex was born on January 27, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father, William Hoffman and is survived by his mother, Anne Hoffman and brother, William Hoffman.

I knew Rex as my mother's cousin, grandmother's
Tim Crough, Prairie Village, KS
nephew, and the Johnson County Hauler. I
remember seeing him chatting up the gas station
attendants around town and being heard diving
down the road way before you could ever see him
coming. I always waved to Rex when I drove by in
my equally (not quite as big but noticeable)
vehicle. I think he always saw me coming too.
We'd wave to each other and if the weather was
nice we'd exchange hello's. I regret not engaging
Rex in more in-depth meaningful conversation.
He enjoyed talking with the gas stations
guys...probably would have liked talking a little
more with me too. Seems like Rex really enjoyed
people. I know he loved his mom Annie.
I should have taken more time to get to know him
better. I pray that the good Lord will have mercy
on his soul. I know he will be missed.

rex had a heart as big or bigger than anybody i know. he would do anything for anybody. he will be missed.
