Obituary

Karen Elizabeth Maxwell Long, age 62, Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Thursday, April 12th, 2018. Memorial services will be 10:30am Saturday, May 5th at Shawnee Nazarene Church, 5539 Quivira Rd, Shawnee, Kansas. There will be a lunch afterwards. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses.

Ms. Karen Long was born January 20th, 1956 in Shawnee, Kansas. She was married to Russell D Long on April 2nd, 1994, who passed away in June 2006. They enjoyed playing Bingo together. After Russ passed, Karen found her place at Shawnee Nazarene and the new family of the church to help her with the passing of Russ. Karen also went on with fostering kittens and puppies with TARA (tarasdream.org). She enjoyed watching kids that she was an honorary great grandmother to: two girls and one boy. She was known as GG to a lot of us.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russ, her mother, Mary Alice, her father, Leonard, and her brother, Tom, and the many animals she has touched.

Survivors include her two daughters, Bonnie, 34, and Michelle, 18, and her son, Steven, 17. She was a grandmother to 3 granddaughters and 1 grandson, a great grandmother to 3 great granddaughters and 3 great grandsons, her sister, Ann, and two brothers, Mike and Jim.

    Karen was a wonderful friend when we were in PEP and until I lost touch with her. We enjoyed the
    family events with our grandchildren and celebrated her adoption of Michele & Steven. Karen was a
    kind, caring person.
