Obituary

Enola Mae Kirby, 86, La Crosse, Kansas, died Friday, May 11, 2018, at Rush County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse, Kansas.

Mrs. Kirby was born December 31, 1931, in La Crosse, Kansas, the daughter of Roy J. and Lenore C. (Jefferis) Baker. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. A 1949 graduate of La Crosse High School, La Crosse, Kansas, she was the owner/operator of the Patchwork Parlor in La Crosse, Kansas, for 37 years.

As a member of the First Christian Church, in La Crosse, Kansas, she served her church faithfully. She was also very active as a 4-H sewing leader.

On September 15, 1949, she married Donald Ralph Kirby at the First Christian Church, La Crosse, Kansas. He preceded her in death December 24, 1991.

Survivors include: two daughters, Barbara Kirby, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Cheryl (Kirby) Schlegel, and her husband, Gene Schlegel, Alexander, Kansas; grandchildren, Derrick Schlegel, and his two sons, Robert and Dylan, and Amanda (Schlegel) Schmidtberger, her husband, Clay Schmidtberger, and their children, Wyatt, Morgan and Josephine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a half brother, Leo Baker; a half sister, Lois Claybaugh; and one son, Doyle Kirby, who is survived by his daughter, Paula (Kirby) Mackey, her children, Christopher Marks, Tiffany Rangel, Jenna Marks, Richard Marks, Amanda Mackey, and Melissa Mackey; and eight great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 13, 2018, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Funeral service will be Monday, May 14, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas, with Pastor Mark Sizemore officiating. Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to the Rush County EMT’s, or the First Christian Church, La Crosse, Kansas.
