Ida A. Pfeifer, 96, Liebenthal, Kansas, died Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse, Kansas.

Mrs. Pfeifer was born March 14, 1922, in rural Liebenthal, Kansas, the daughter of Alex and Rosalia (Legleiter) Schaffer. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. She was a cook at Fort Hays State University’s McMindes Hall, Hays, Kansas, before her retirement.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and St. Ann’s Altar Society, both of Liebenthal, Kansas.

On June 18, 1940, she married Albert Pfeifer at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas. He preceded her in death. Later, she married Herb Schuckman. He also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two daughters, Sister Alice Ann Pfeifer, Fond du lac, Wisconsin, and Judy Hoffman, Liebenthal, Kansas; two sons, Ernest Pfeifer, La Crosse, Kansas, and Robert Pfeifer, Liebenthal, Kansas; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two brothers, Ben Schaffer, Tallahassee, Florida, and Richard Schaffer, Marion, Kansas; and two sisters, Dorothy Sanders, Arizona, and Caroline Decker, Salina, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one son, Tim Pfeifer; one infant son, Ronald Dean Pfeifer; one daughter, Rosalee Pfeifer; three brothers, Albert Schaffer, Eugene Schaffer, and John Schaffer; and two sisters, Blanche Doonan, and Alice Schaffer.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 13, 2018, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. A vigil service and rosary will be at 7:30 P.M.

Church visitation will be Thursday, June 14, 2018, from 9:00 A.M. to 9:50 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.

Funeral service will be Thursday, June 14, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, with Father Eric Gyamfi officiating. Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to masses or St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Steeple Fund, Liebenthal, Kansas.
