Musically gifted she excelled academically graduating high school at 16, later attending the University of California at Berkeley majoring in engineering. During her long life, Genay remained fully engaged in life through work, community theater and chorus, Emporia Arts Council, aerobics, and church. She was an avid reader of mysteries, collector of mugs and crock pots. Genay was an avid bridge player, she bowled and loved to dance. She was part of Junior Achievement in Topeka. Sending love to Dan and the family! Genay was so caring and helpful when my then husband,
Caswell Ellis, and I moved to Emporia in 1983. I was pregnant with my first child and Genay and
Dan couldn’t have been more helpful during that process! She served the Baha’i community in an
    excellent way!

Dear Dan and Family, I am so sorry to hear of Genay's passing. I've known her for many years, first through my work at the Emporia Public Library, especially our book discussions, and later as a friend. I loved hearing about her growing up in Phoenix. It was so wonderful to have Dan and Genay visit my mom and me in Sun City twice. My heart and mind are saddened, but my memories of our friendship give me joy. Peace to you all!
