Following his wife Genay, Dannie Clark Snyder of Emporia began his new quest Saturday, May 11 2019 at his home of 44 years. He was 71 years young.

He was born December 31, 1947 of Wayne & June Snyder, raised in Wichita, KS with two brothers Dave and Brad. In high school, he was an accomplished wrestler and he discovered an interest in the theater arts. Dan then attended McPherson College as a Liberal Arts major, where he continued developing his artistic talents in technical theater.

During the Vietnam war Dan's pacifist beliefs, which began with his religious roots in the Church of the Brethren, prevented him from entering regular service in the military... instead he chose to follow in the footsteps of his father and his older brother, Dave, and served in alternative service. He served as an orderly in a Topeka hospital, which also furthered his interest in massage as a healing art. During this time he was blessed several times over... he had his son, Emanuel Michael, he "discovered" the Baha'i faith, and he met his wife to be, Genay.

After completing his alternative service, Dan and Genay moved to Emporia, where they brightened the streets for 44 years. Both Dan and Genay were active in their community, known for supporting the arts, the university, and other community activities. Dan and Genay were also foster parents to quite a number of kids who found themselves in need of caring parents to give them direction.

After working as a supervisor at Dolly Madison for many years, Dan further pursued his interest of becoming a Certified Massage Therapist. He launched Dan's Hands as a massage therapist, providing the community with much needed relief, and supported numerous events such as Dirty Kanza bike race with free massages.

Dan always made sure that his wife Genay was attended to first, and this he continued through to the end, as he supported Genay as she made her transition exactly one month prior. Dan passed quietly and calmly, attended to by his son, Michael and a close personal friend, RJ.

A memorial service will be held for both Dan and Genay from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Emporia Presbyterian Church West Campus, 1702 W. 15th Ave. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emporia Symphony Orchestra.
