On Tuesday, July 2nd, Mary Jo Dillon passed away at Aberdeen Village in Olathe, Ks, at the age of 82. Mary Jo was born in Gardner, Ks and as a result of a difficult delivery, had Cerebral Palsy. She lived most of her life in Kansas City, Mo,and graduated from R.J.Delano School. After high school she worked in her dad's office everyday- the E P Dillon Co. Sometimes she did the typing but loved meeting everyone that came in. She never let her disability stop her. She was always ready to do anything and she always wanted to help everyone else. Her sense of humor will keep us smiling. Mary Jo was a very special lady that taught us so much and inspired us all. We were truly blessed to have her in our family!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Eileen Dillon, her baby sister, Andrea, and brother-in-law, Mike Dowd. She is survived by her sister Judy Dowd and by her nieces and nephews: Debbie Boyer (Bruce), Tim Dowd (Julie), Susan Jones (Burke), Jeff Dowd (Holly), Kelly Area (Kyle), and Matt Dowd (Melissa). Her great nieces and nephews are: Alex (Hilary) and Jessica Boyer, Michael and Emily Dowd, Nick, Ryan, and Ella Jones, Evan Dowd, Lauren and Morgan Area, Allison, Dylan, and Megan Dowd. Remembering my beautiful cousin Mary Jo, All the fun times we had, I remember the visits at the farm, she would say take me for a walk, and we would push her chair down those country roads . Mary would love for us to push her chair faster until we were running, with her. Mary would say go faster and just laugh with joy as we did what she said. After we stopped and were heading back to the house, she would say now we won't tell your Mom we did this as she smiled at us. Oh what beautiful memories . I thank God for those memories. Psalm 30:5

I am so sad to hear of Mary Jo's passing. It has been many years since I saw her . The Dillon's lived behind us growing up. I am very fortunate to have great memories of this wonderful person. I hope her memories bring you solace in the days and weeks ahead.
