Obituary

Sister Juanita Jackson was born November 10, 1940 in Fayette, Missouri to James and Harriet Jackson. The Lord called her home Thursday, November 28, 2019. Her father James Jackson, mother Harriet Jackson, sister Dorothy Byrd, brother Howard Jackson, son James LeeReece Jackson, his daughter Shareece Jackson, and grandson Tremaine Jackson proceeded her in death.

Juanita was a lifelong residence of Kansas City, Missouri. She was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri Public School system where she attended Lincoln High Senior School. Juanita would later become the first Black Woman Labor Leader for Public Works and would retire as the First Black Woman Area Superintendent of Solid Waste. She devoted over 2 decades of her life to the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

She accepted Christ and was a faithful member of Greater Pentecostal Temple where she participated in the choir and was a member of God’s Glory praise ministry. She loved the outdoors, and when she had her mind set to do something just know she got it done! She loved her family and enjoyed family gatherings at her home where everyone was welcomed. The sound of music would fill her soul and her laugh and smile was unforgettable.

She leaves to cherish her memories 7 children: Kenya Spencer, Rekita Jackson, Naurice Brown, Sean Brown, John Jackson (Sheila), Gayle Jackson, and Phaetima Woods (Mario). There are 42+ grand and great grandchildren born and counting. A sister Jamesetta McClendon (Larry), a brother Bobby Jackson (Valerie) and a host of nieces and nephews.
