Obituary

Marilyn M. Barnett joined her husband Leo Barnett and her daughter Lisa Barnett in heaven on February 12, 2020. She was able to be at home in Lansing surrounded by her love ones.

Marilyn was born November 22, 1937, the daughter of Stephen Douglas and Mary Irene (Puckett) Walker. Their family moved to Lansing where her dad found work. Marilyn was a long time employee at Hallmark Cards.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Lisa Barnett; brothers Stephen Douglas Walker (Sue) of San Antonio, TX and Elmer Walker of Leavenworth, KS (Dana) of Bull Shoals, AR; sister Twyla Sue Lauber (Joseph Jr.) of Leavenworth, KS; and brother-in-law Thomas Powell of Lansing, KS. She also joins her beloved pets Barney and Shady.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter Denise Renee Barnett (Scotty Wilson), of Tecumseh, KS; sister Donna Jean Powell of Lansing, KS; brother Lynn Walker, of Bull Shoals, AR; grandchildren Victoria Torie Barnett of Topeka, KS, William Wilson (Whitney) of Tecumseh, KS, Kylie Renee and Bill Barnett-Wilson of Tecumseh, KS, Levi Barnett of Leavenworth, KS, and Lucy Collings-Barnett (Blythe) of Falls Church, VA; great grandchildren Cooper, Zettalee and Emmabelle Wilson of Tecumseh, KS, and Leo Barnett of Fort Bragg, NC; sister-in-law Lynn Walker of Bull Shoals, AR; many nieces, nephews, friends and family members; and her great friend Patty Dyson that helped her through difficult times in her life.

Mom will truly be missed. Love you mom and I will see you again. She requested no services but there will be a graveside prayer on Wednesday, February 19th, at 10:00am, at Sunset Memory Gardens, 16731 Springdale Rd.

    Marilyn was truly the best neighbor one could ever have. I will
    never forget the day I met her. Out of this meeting, my daughter
    found a friendship with her granddaughter. She will be truly
    missed. My deepest sympathies go out to her family.
